The fabric or vinyl question comes up a lot, but I am glad you are asking it BEFORE purchasing products that are not suitable for your soft top! You would be amazed how many times I have had to inform people that they have purchased the wrong products because they did not ask.
The best way to test whether your soft top is vinyl or fabric is to run your hand across the top. If it looks and feels similar to tent material, then you have a fabric roof. If it looks and feels like ingrained plastic, then your top is vinyl.
However, of course if you have doubts, simple use the products on a unnoticeable, small area of the top to test if the product is working.
You did mention in our previous email that your vehicle is a SAAB 9.3. Therefore I can surmise that as long as the SAAB has the original soft top, then it will be Fabric, which is most common with SAAB.
However, because you are only using the Fabric Soft Top Cleaner, and Ultra Proofer, both of these products are clear and water based – thus will not cause any damage even if your top was vinyl. The cleaner is in fact not much different to the Vinyl Soft Top Cleaner, and would therefore clean the top regardless of whether it is vinyl or fabric.
The Proofer however, will not damage your top if it was vinyl, but it would not be able to absorb, and therefore just settle on the top, so you will need to purchase Vinyl Ultra Proofer!
I hope this helps!
