First of all, I believe it is important to inform you that you should never, use a car shampoo to clean your soft top as it contains detergent and this can cause your soft top and the waterproof membrane within the top to deteriorate, leading to leaks and other such issues.
Our Fabric Soft Top Cleaner is water based in order to be entirely kind to your soft top and can be used on a regular basis whilst washing the rest of the car with a proprietary branded car shampoo. It may also be useful for you to know that ALL Renovo products are water based, and can therefore not damage your vehicle’s paintwork or windows.
For regular cleaning the Fabric Soft Top Cleaner can brushed onto the soft top and then be left to soak in for a few minutes. After that, it can then be rinsed off, this will not remove the previously applied Ultra Proofer.
You will achieve better protection if Ultra Proofer is applied about every six months, ideally spring and autumn. When you perform this, the first coat will soak in quite a lot, but may not need the second coat. Of course it does not matter if you were to add another coat, as the previously applied proofer would simply repel the new coat if not needed.
Furthermore, you are unlikely to use as much as proofer when you are topping up the protection, and for that reason, the six monthly applications will use less Ultra Proofer.
